Until now, the difficulty in diagnosing middle ear disease has been quite challenging. In keeping with our mission statement of practicing technologically advanced veterinary medicine, Valley Animal Hospital utilizes a computerized video otoscope in order to perform middle ear surgery as well as safe and more successful external ear canal cleaning. In the picture to the right, we're removing a polyp from deep in the external ear canal. In the following photo, the middle ear canal has an infection.

This patient was suffering from a chronic intermittent fever of unknown origin. During a physical examination, we were able to view the ear drum of this cat. Except for fever and general malaise, there were no other symptoms pinpointing the problem. By using the video otoscope which is viewed through our computers, we were able to make the diagnosis and save the images into our computerized medical record system for future reference.
