Valley Animal Hospital - Where State of the Art Meets State of the Heart

Dentistry

Valley Animal Hospital uses the same equipment human dentists utilize.

After a thorough charting by a trained and certified veterinary dental technician, the teeth are cleaned above and below the gumline using precision hand instruments designed for veterinary use. After an ultrasonic cleaning, the teeth are polished and then treated with fluoride.

A doctor then examines the teeth and will perform dental radiographs if indicated such as the one shown. These radiographs show incredible detail and allow us to make good decisions regarding how individual teeth are treated.

This particular tooth on the picture at left for example shows an abscess at the base of the left tooth. A root canal was recommended since the tooth itself was healthy and the dog's tooth was saved.
